Training for Tech Leaders
Navigating from Tech Manager to People Manager
We are pleased to announce that our new leadership training program is now accessible to all small businesses in Huntsville/Madison County. Previously exclusive to businesses in CRP, this program is now open to small businesses outside of CRP as well.
Do you have a technical leader who was recently promoted to managing people? Are you looking for a cost effective way to train your new leaders on the complexity of people management?
We’re excited to offer this to Chamber member companies with less than 100 employees in STEM-focused industries. Please see the program flyer below for all the details on this half-day course that begins this January and meets monthly for six months.
We have limited class space and will take applications through Friday, Dec. 5 or until the small class size is full. Apply now!

The program will include six (6) half-day sessions occurring monthly, starting in January 2026. Each program day will build upon the learning from the previous program day, facilitated by on-the-job leadership development application between days. All sessions will take place at HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in CRP. The registration fee is $900 and includes all training, course materials, and food and beverage for each session.

“I’m newer to management and have come from a technical background. This course has helped bridge some gaps of understanding how to lead the people around me and set my team on a path of success. I would take this the program again… just dive a bit deeper into the areas that interest me.”
Jared Erickson
“I found the discussions of leadership styles, personal values and personality types very illuminating. Learning how to communicate with staff more clearly, learning how to deal with conflict in the workplace, and how to provide graceful accountability were very useful. I also enjoyed hearing from leaders in the community about their experiences. This was definitely a worthwhile program that I will recommend to other managers in our company.”
Stephen Lomax, SimTech
“The CRPU Training Course was an incredibly valuable experience for me as an emerging leader in the tech industry. It helped me sharpen my strategic thinking, improve my communication skills, and gain the confidence to lead with impact. I walked away with practical tools and a clearer vision for my career growth.”
Laura Eshelman
“This training greatly helped improve my skills as a manager. It was both informative and interactive to help cover the problems I was facing while also directing me to think about the future issues and prepare myself for them.”
