Best place in Alabama to find a job (it’s 30th best in the country)

If your new year means finding a new job, you should head north. North Alabama, that is.

Wallethub’s listing of the best places in the country for jobs is out and one Alabama city was among the top 30 out on the list. The ranking of 182 cities was based on 31 metrics across two categories: job market, which included things such as employment opportunities and growth and average starting salaries; and socioeconomics, which factored in income, commute times and employee benefits.

The top-ranked city Alabama was Huntsville, which ranked 30th in the country. Huntsville, which is enjoying an employment boom from its space, defense and military ties, was ranked 11th in the country for job market but dropped to 112th for socioeconomic climate.

No other Alabama city made the top 100.

Birmingham was the next Alabama city on the list, landing at number 114. Mobile was 132nd; Montgomery was 144th.
