Dr. Erek Withee is joining Teledyne Brown Engineering as its Chief Engineer, and will work from the company’s headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama.
In this position, Dr. Withee will be the engineering leader for Teledyne Brown Engineering, and assume responsibility for engineering practices and the coordination of the engineering workforce to meet program goals across the company. He will also lead the integration of resources company-wide, monitor technical performance, and serve as the technical leader for the company with external customers.

Dr. Withee joined the Navy at age seventeen where his career began in the Naval Nuclear Power Program as a nuclear mechanic. He then became a Submarine Officer and later transitioned to the Engineering Duty Officer community where he worked on design projects for submarine advance technologies, Special Forces combat submersibles, and a project related to vortex induced vibration mitigation. In 2006, he volunteered for a tour in Iraq, where he served as the military liaison to the State Department group responsible for repairing the Iraqi national electric grid.
After retiring from the Navy, Dr. Withee served as the Director of Project Management leading the development of multiple web-based applications for a marketing firm. Following this, he returned to the Naval Sea Systems Command as the Senior Systems Engineer on the propulsion system for the Ohio Class Submarine Replacement Program. He then spent four years working with maritime clients addressing shipboard cybersecurity issues. Most recently, he was selected as the Director of the Engineering Division for American Systems, providing engineering services for submarine ship control systems, sonar data acquisition, and ship structural design.
Dr. Withee has a Doctorate degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He also has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Alabama and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Additionally, he is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).
