Cummings Research Park is redesigning itself for the future. We are ensuring that the Park is the premier place to locate and expand, the place where your employees want to work, where your friends and family want to explore and enjoy.
The Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County and officials with the City of Huntsville began a new master plan for CRP in 2015. The 50-year plan, designed by a team led by architectural firm Perkins & Will, was finalized in November 2016, adopted by the CRP Board of Directors and the Huntsville Planning Commission.
The CRP Master plan is geared towards enabling innovation and technological achievement for companies located within the Park, regardless of their size or type of research- or technology-based activity. CRP will support the growth of companies throughout all growth cycles.
The plan also includes an overhaul of the Park’s image as well as incorporating new and additional outdoor amenities to further connect the Park with way-finding signs, greenways, bicycle and pedestrian pathways, and pocket parks. In addition, the Park will be supported by programming and services such as food truck fests, tech talks and lecture series’, musical events, tours, and more connected and collaborative activities.
OUR INNOVATION-LED GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES
In the past, the Huntsville region and Cummings Research Park both have benefitted from growth in broad industry clusters, including aerospace/defense, information technology, advanced manufacturing and life sciences. Going forward, CRP’s positioning must be recalibrated around a more nuanced understanding of converging technologies and emerging multi-disciplinary industry sectors. Seven innovation-led growth opportunities that combine well-positioned industry drivers with core competencies found in the Huntsville region could be advanced by CRP leadership through its efforts in proactive marketing, supporting business expansion, and new company formation.
