Columbia High School Students Enjoy Park Hop

Cummings Research Park hosted the inaugural Park Hop on October 1st with students from Columbia High School! A total of 25 juniors visited four companies in the park: ADTRAN, CFD Innovation Center, Redstone Federal Credit Union, and UAH’s SWIRLL. Each entity explained from beginning to end the projects they were actively working on while showing the equipment and resources needed to complete these projects. The students learned what the products would be used for and how the information they are learning in school can be applied to real world situations. The companies also explained the education and experience needed to be able to obtain a job in their field of work.

CRP will continue the Park Hop in the coming years and we hope to bring the students to new facilities each time! The Park Hop gets the junior students to start thinking about their future, which will prepare them for the “Intern for a Day” program we offer to the senior students. We believe this process will bring great success and a bright future for the students at Columbia High School!
